Graham Percy

We were very inspired by our trip to the museum to see the Graham Percy exhibition. We are thinking of ways to incorporate his work into what we are doing in literacy around fairy tales- but first, we are trying to find out more about his life and artwork!

Check out this Google Doc that we have created to collaborate on our learning:

Garden Design Project Reflection

We've been working very hard designing an outdoor classroom for our school. As we finish the projects, we'll reflect on our work on our blogs.

The blog post should include thoughtful responses to these questions:
(please type out the questions in bold on your post)

1. What was the problem with the existing area?

2. Describe in detail 3 features of your design. How are they solutions to the problems that you found?

3. Reflect on how your group worked together. What did you do well as a group? What was a challenge? Did YOU participate fully? How?

4. What were the names of your group members?

You will also need to embed your group's proposal (see me, Chayden, Vicky or Gloria for help with this) and the 3D design onto your blog.

Have a look at these posts as excellent examples. Remember to leave them a comment to let them know what you think!

The First Annual Room 6 2 1/2 Hour Film Competition

What's the best way for Room 6 to celebrate two birthdays in one day? A film competition of course!

I have been wanting to try this with the kids as a way to encourage creativity and bring the Key Competencies to the forefront of our group work. Shout out to Room 4 and Mr. O'Regan for sharing the idea with us!

The plan:

In groups, students got to choose a 'theme'- we brainstormed these and came up with scary, adventure, comedy, musical, family and.....romantic. Surprise surprise, most groups chose comedy!

Each group was given a prop and encouraged to use it in a creative, 'outside the square' way. These included a ring, an umbrella, a glue gun, a basket, scales and sunscreen.

Each group also had a line that they had to include in their script. Can you guess what it was from viewing the videos?

The finished films were meant to be no longer than 2 minutes long.

Once that was all sorted the groups had 2 1/2 hours to plan, film, edit and submit their films. Not much time, but they all made it!

Have a look at our finished products. I reckon we have some budding directors, actors and comedians!!
